This transition would certainly help the industry that can use this technology, which has made great strides in this field contributing to an increase in the rate of production. Talented professionals, equipped to handle new technologies is what the industry is looking for. The visual communications industry- as it is broadly termed as, is all set to woo top class talent with big bucks. These are some of the reasons driving optimism in this sector.
Filmmakers and film studios, animation houses, multimedia studios, corporate, websites, advertising agencies and digital game makers have a great use for Multimedia and animation Professionals in their work. During this course students would be exposed to various aspects of the Multimedia Industry, using portfolio as a basic building block, which would give them an opportunity to move in the various fields of Visual media. Portfolio preparation involves market-entry preparation, industry expectations will be presented from time to time during the course, and Students will be encouraged to visualize on all the design aspects for all the categories relating to the blue print of their own design plan which would lead to strict industry compliance in all the aspects of the portfolio. Students will accumulate design work for possible inclusion in a final portfolio and create a written plan for its timely output, which would lead to their own unique portfolio.

This course in multimedia emphasizes hands-on learning through an open ended task-based approach. The approach focuses on exercises, demos and discussions, not lectures that work towards creating a portfolio of work. The student creates a portfolio, which truthfully reflects the student’s ability and understanding about the profession he has sought to enter - Digital Print and Publishing, Interactive Multimedia and Digital Film Animation.
Multimedia applications
The student will learn to use a variety of multimedia applications starting with basic applications like Microsoft Office, Sound recorder, Web Authoring to Digital Illustrations, Image Editing, Page Layouting, Multimedia Authoring, Web Publishing, Animation for the Web, Video Editing, Composting and Visual Effects to carry out tasks rooted in the different multimedia industries.
The approach to learning
Each course is divided into a number of portfolio tasks. The student starts with pre-session reading before attending the class to understand concepts and acquire the necessary knowledge to tackle the task. In class, the student learns about different software tools and methods on how to create the portfolio item. After creating the portfolio item the learning culminates in evaluating the final portfolio item through peer discussions. Concept learning is shared with the class in the form of presentations and reports, again followed by discussions.
Self-learning: Our belief that teaching is not as important as learning is borne out in our approach. There is an uncomfortable emphasis on self-learning.
Guidance: Guidance is provided in the courseware in the form of printed tool books, demos, tutorials, films, online learning. The small batch size and a high student-faculty ratio ensure individual guidance, where absolutely essential.
Working in groups: Learners are encouraged to tackle tasks, learn and work in groups as they would in the real world.
Each activity can be done alone, but working in partnership with a colleague generates its own energy and increases the pace of learning tremendously. Students are encouraged to interact.
